Come As You Are

Rickie Fowler is not averse to pushing boundaries. Case in point: the untucked Hawaiian shirt he donned the first day of the Tournament of Champions in Kapalua in January. He got ribbed by his buddies, and reviews were mixed throughout Google and Twitter. Funny thing is that shirt was sold out at the merchandising tents on site in no time. Call it the Hawaiian laid-back way. Rickie didn’t only pull it off, he stole the show.

Rewind to May and me walking into my local café for a latte and a croissant. Spring has hit the north, and a jealous observer can’t help opining how fortunate I am to be heading to the links on such a beautiful day as he heads into the concrete jungle. I wasn’t hard to spot with my traditional tucked-in shirt with horizontal and colourful stripes. Geez, I was only missing the canary colored “Sans-A-Belt” slacks from a thankfully bygone era.

Let’s make “golf cool again!” From now, on I’m not going to dress to play golf; time to golf how I dress.
