Teaching And Technology

Having just arrived back from the merchandising show in Orlando, I couldn’t help but notice how the hard-goods section has changed dramatically in the last few years. Fewer clubs, more technology. It makes me question, is this the route we really need to be going? Are we now so immersed within the fast-paced information age we can’t teach without launch monitors, apps and 3-D sensors? Trackman for putting?

Excuse me, but the last time I needed to know my ball speed for a putt was never. In the words of Happy Gilmore, “Just putt the ball in the hole.” According to some, the difficulty of learning the game has never been easier, but when I look around, the ease has never been more complicated.
